FREAKY
Hey what’s up, I’m FREAKY. I’m a bass music producer and DJ from North Carolina. If you’ve seen me at Lost Lands, RAMPAGE, Bass Canyon, or any of the other wild shows I’ve played over the past few years, you already know what I’m about: heavy energy, chaotic drops, and a connection with the crowd that goes way beyond just pressing play.
I started producing around 11 years ago, back when I had no clue what I was doing. I was just obsessed with the sound of dubstep, the raw power of it, and I wanted to figure out how to create that feeling myself. I’d spend hours every night watching tutorials, layering random samples, and just trying to get something that didn’t sound like garbage.
Over time I found my sound, a hybrid mix of Dubstep, Trap, and Melodic Bass. I never wanted to fit in a box. Honestly, that mindset is what got me to where I am today.
One thing that made a huge difference in my growth was finding tools that actually helped me move faster and sound cleaner. I’ve been using EDM Templates for a long time now, way before anyone knew who I was. Their packs gave me access to professional-quality drums, basses, FX, and more that I could just drag in and build around.
There were so many nights where I only had two hours to make something before a gig, starting from scratch with nothing. Having go-to folders full of EDMT samples saved me more times than I can count.
Fast forward to now, and I’ve just dropped my brand new LACTOSE EP on Kannibalen Records. It’s one of my proudest releases to date. Each track shows a different side of me - aggressive, cinematic, a little unhinged... just how I like it.
Putting this EP together felt like everything coming full circle. I still use a lot of the same creative habits I had when I was a bedroom producer, but now the stage is bigger, the stakes are higher, and the music is more dialed than ever.
If you’re reading this and you’re an up-and-coming producer, keep going. Find the sounds that speak to you. Experiment. Break stuff. Get weird with it. And don’t be afraid to use the tools that are out there. For me, EDM Templates was one of those secret weapons early on, and it’s still part of my process today.
Much love,
